I'd pity Rangers more. Bruce knows how to get what little talent there is from Bramble. As for Harewood at Rangers........Celtic fans must be celebrating already!

Not a done deal yet, so there may be hope for Rangers fans.

Bad news for Liverpool fans and fans of English football - Gerrard is staying.

Hodgson will probably use a 4-4-1-1 formation.

Problem is, with Mascherano likely to leave, he could end up with a 4-0-1-5 formation as Cole and Gerrard trip over one another up front

Oh, and only tenuously PL-related - Frank Ribery and Karim Benzema have been charged with solicting an underage prostitute. If the prosecution can prove they knew the girl's age then it's three years in the slammer.

So that's two potential targets for United who could possibly be 'otherwise engaged'

Harewood is total crap.. and Rangers are skint. Dont think even Rangers could afford the wages that this lump of wood would try and demand. Having said that the Scottish premiership is a very poor league.. Harewood may well score a few goals up here.

Liverpool agree a deal in principle for Wilson of Rangers for 2m rising to 5m depending on appearances. A very good deal as this lad can play.

TalkScheisse reporting that a certain Klass-Jan Huntelaar has arrived at Manchester Airport this evening.

Clearly he isn't there to do a spot of tourism so it begs the question as to whether he's negotiating with United or Citeh.

Either way, I hope he does a deal due to persistent rumours we're interested in him.

Lol, Wigan have accepted a GBP3m bid from Sunderland (Mirror says GBP5m) for Titus Bramble, according to SSN.

The Sunderland board, where I go to read regularly, is in meltdown

P.S. Their server blew up earlier this evening. Not sure whether it was a coincidence or not.

Titus Bramble isn't as rubbish as you make out. He's put in some fantastic performances for Wigan these past couple of years. Seriously.

But he's still not worth £3m

Incidentally, I'm a lot more positive about the forthcoming season from a Liverpool perspective. Obviously there's still the Torres-shaped elephant in the room to sort out but, assuming he stays, we could be OK.

Mascherano is odds-on to leave, with Inter apparently his chosen destination, but what I wish Liverpool would look at is a swap deal for Balotelli. He'd be a great support for Torres. It'd also pee-off the 'Loadsamoney' chavs at Citeh.

If we can get £5m for Ngog to put with the £6m for Insua and £15m transfer kitty widely reported to have been made available, that leaves £24m once the £2m for Wilson is paid. Surely enough for a good left back and a decent holding midfielder (although Lucas can do that job, too)

A week is a long time in football. I can just about handle Bellamy playing for us (as seems increasingly likely) - principally for his ass kicking/golf club attacking abilities. But now I hear we are interested in Raul. Oh joy

With the summer purchases and the fact that Mancini will have had a full pre-season with them, I'm actually expecting them to go very close to the title if not win it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them right up there. either. They look to have a much more balanced side, contrasting with the previous transfer policy, which seemed to be to buy any high profile player who became available, then try to squeeze them into the team.

Chelsea will be hard to beat again and would be my favourites to win the title.

Arsenal remain an enigma to me - any gambler's nightmare. Will the young players kick on with another season's experience under their belt? Or will they still flatter to deceive, especially in the big games? Will the Fabregas stuff unsettle him and maybe others* There's a few changes to the team/squad going on and it'll be interesting to see if Wenger's unrivalled eye for a player continues.

Hard to say how Man U will fare, too. They relied so much on Rooney last season and the question is, can he remember how to play football after his shambolic performances at the World Cup? Old Trafford's been a bit quiet on the transfer front. They've been linked to many players, but none have arrived yet, with boasting from withing the club about how their young players are the next golden generation who will step up this season.Vidic (and maybe Evra) - their two most consistent defenders (apart from when Vidic is being Torres' rabbit) - could be leaving. Time is catching up with Giggs and Scholes and to me, their squad looks a bit threadbare. Saying that, there's plenty of transfer window time left and Ferguson tends to keep his cards close to his chest.

I reckon Spurs will struggle. The step up to Champions League is big and, if they put a lot of effort into it, their domestic form could suffer. Again, they've been linked to a lot of players, but the standard of players who seem to be actually coming in doesn't look particularly inspiring.

Villa will be Villa and do alright without seriously challenging for the top.

And I seem to have done a mini-preview of the Premier League season without really intending to.

* PS - the behavoir of some Barca players (and Pepe Reina) is pretty disgusting IMO. Blatent inducement to get him to leave Arsenal and should be punished - but then, Barca can do no wrong in the eyes of UEFA.

Depends on which criteria you use, because 'biggest' is rather subjective. They're the most succesful club in England for sure. I wouldn't say they're the biggest, though. I say this through gritted teeth (and with a big gob of spit afterwards) but that accolade goes to Man U.

If I was trying to ascertain which clubs were the biggest, I'd look at overall success, national and global fanbase, how famous/well known the club is globally, and how strong the club currently is.

Going off those four criteria, only Man U could challenge Liverpool on the first three. Arsenal would be a clear third, with johnny-come-lately Chelsea trailing a distant 4th, possibly 5th behind Spurs. Citeh don't even get a look in.

I would take into account things like stadium, global fanbase (despite the fact I think people who support clubs from towns they've no affliction with are morons) Recent success rather than historical. If I were to pick a top three it would be:

Man Utd (by a country mile)

Chelsea

Liverpool, and they're only third on the basis of the champions league win a few years back, otherwise they'd be 4th behind Arsenal
