Highlights quite nicely how the Prem has become a big money SPL. Villa were tipped by many pundits to potentially break into the top 4 this season. Reality is you won't see either of the two title contenders - Man Utd or Chelsea - lose 6 zip to a side like Newcastle. Makes it more exciting for the teams below no doubt

Not convinced to be honest. Out of all of those I would say Arsenal are the least likely, but I could certainly see Liverpool getting tanked by someone on a bad day, likewise the currently somewhat unbalanced and new Man City. All of them I could see it happening to on a bad day, just like Villa today. Man Utd or Chelsea I don't see it happening to on their worst day of the season

Peter Walton misses a shirt tug by Vidic that was so blatant it was like the Fulham player was on a lead and then gives the most ludicrous penalty the other way. Saved, thankfully, but all the same. EDIT: then DOESN'T give one again which was for Fulham. Jesus Christ!

Not a bad game actually, but Manchester United aren't in the same league as Chelsea. Any time Fulham put it together they look pretty frail.

EDIT: Point proved. Apologies for a Football League fan being able to read a Prem game so well

Fulham 2 - United 2. Good result for Fulham. Even a crap refereeing decision 5 mins from the end couldn't help Utd. Will probably be a disappointing result for the Utd fans - even though they won't have far to travel home tonight.

Villa are probably stuffed now. They've had their chance and mucked it up. Just another team fighting for very little.

Chelsea's last five Premier League results:

7-0
2-0
8-0
6-0
6-0

Aggregate 29-0

Granted the only half decent team they've played in that run was Liverpool, but even so it's uncomfortable reading for those who think the Premier League is competitive. It simply shouldn't happen, and not that long ago couldn't have happened.

Cracking game at the cottage today and a great advert for the premiership !!! Two teams really going for it and Fulham really raised their game and deserved the point. Fulham gave Man U a game and it was pretty much even... i saw nani stroll up for the penalty and did comment he was going to miss....... far to casual.

With regard to Villa not many pundits if any had Villa in the top 4. I struggle to find one who did ....anyone shed a light...?

Without Milner and more importantly their manager i think Villa will be looking at a Europa Cup place at best

P.S. I'm sure there will now be a national Newcastle 'Carroll for England' campaign. They may get their wish, assuming Carroll can stay out of jail.

It's crazy that there have been three 6-0 scorelines in the premier league in the same weekend with one game still to play. I wonder if that has happened before?

Have to agree there has been some very high scoring games !!  tho the most extraordinary was Newcastles against Villa. I had it down for a toon win but very much closer than 6-0. I do have a feeling that Chelsea will continue to pound teams this season... this year maybe decided on how the top 4 fair against each other !

I do agree with that (although it's a top 3 now isn't it?), but with the way Chelsea have started there may be nothing any of the other top teams can do. United and Arsenal will drop points against other teams, will Chelsea?

Last year yes, but we were talking about this year. I'm not syaing they will go all season unbeaten and walk away with the title by Easter. I'm just in awe at the balance they have at the moment and the number of people in the team/squad who can regularly find the net. Lampard, Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Malouda will all be in double figures for league goals this year when many a team will find it hard to get one guy in double figures.

I'm looking forward to Bale being unleashed on them. He murdered them at the end of last season and I don't see why he won't do so again this season.

But for a dodgy penalty decision at Stamfordski Bridge last season we could possibly have taken four points off Chelsea - maybe even six.

I'm not saying that it won't happen, just that I can't see it myself. If anything Chelsea look stronger for having a pre-season under Ancelotti and having few players but much in at the world cup. Whilst the other teams seem to have stagnated (Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool) or gone back over (Man U, Villa, Citeh)....just in my view and I am sure me posting this will see an end of season table have Man U top and Chelsea 4th now I have said all that

Chelski look imperious at the moment - no doubt about that. Of the teams you mention I think they're all stronger than last season, except for Utd. The big question is whether the gap between Chelski and the rest has widened. I don't believe it has, which is why I reckon the top 6 teams this season will be taking more points than usual off one another.

I hope you are right, I really do. I would love to see a really wide open race but I can't get my head away from a 2 horse title race and the usual 3 chasing the last 2 spots.
