28.9c and sunburnt shoulders in my garden this afternoon.   That'll do for me.  When's winter?

Although the naked teenage birds didn't seem to mind!

Looks like a max of 27.8°C here - still 0.8°C short of 2012's maximum temperature set on 25th July. Today's maximum temperature is, however, higher than all the others seen in 2012.

If only that was saying a lot... still, we're not even halfway through this summer

Cooler today with an increasingly obvious NE wind since 1pm.
Still managed a very warm 22.6C at 1.10pm
The wind shift cleared away clouds which were tending to pop up through the morning, leaving a perfect blue sky.

Beautiful day here in Brighton, after 26.4 degrees at 1pm, we had some welcome sea breezes! Went down to about 21 degrees, but now the NE wind has picked up, back up to 27.2 degrees

An unexpected revamp in temps this evening with 28.4°C at 6:14pm. Just 0.2°C off the 2012 maximum!

Hurn saw 29.7°C according to the Met Office so that's close but no cigar on 30°C... doesn't bode well for me in the July Prediction Game

Tomorrow looks to be very similar according to GFS - it goes for temps a touch lower here, but that does rely in part on temps dropping to 12°C tonight, and I'm not convinced that will happen what with last night seeing a 12.6°C minimum under clear skies with light winds and following on from a max of 25.1°C yesterday. As of 7:30pm it's some 4°C hotter than it was at the same time yesterday!

Met Office's 15°C minimum looks more realistic, with temps then rising to almost the same values as predicted for today (they had 27°C here for today... slight undercooking in the end).

28.1 °C was the max here. Quite hot enough, thank you! And it's still 25.6 °C at approaching eight o'clock...

Got to 29c here, a tad too hot. Although a dip in the pool now and again helped

Anyway..a fantastic day that saw the temperature above 20c between 08.50hrs and 19.40hrs. The max was 25.7c at noon. We have had friends around, the children have played in the paddling pool, we have laughed, danced, drank and ate with good friends and basically enjoyed life to the full.

My favourite activity in this kind of hot and humid weather is to head out for a cycle round at around 9pm. Would have done so today but for the Top Gear delay. Planning it tomorrow.

Very nice to sit outside in the garden as a means of cooling off tonight. Windows wide open - never mind the flies, that air smells amazing

By the way, I was golfing in Cambridgeshire today.

It was a stupid, insane thing to do and at times I felt I was going to spontaneously combust. Especially my lower right leg, which was sporting three whopping great mozzy bites. If it hadn't been for the fact it was an annual golfy get-together to commemorate a family friend, I think we'd have all preferred to have immersed ourselves in a paddling pool instead.

Still, the post-round beer was heavenly, Even if I could only have a couple, since I had to drive the 190 miles back oop north.

Even the general public were on their best behaviour around here today (usually it gets all loud and rowdy by afternoon and into the evening). Mind you, it helped that the Addams Family living next door were out for most of the day.

What a stunning hot day today and temps was 18.2C last night to 30.2C.  Yesterday was 11C to 29C and felt quite hot at the car boot sales this morning and left at 10am after arriving at 8am.

Today was my daughter's 5th birthday party, which we had at a soft play centre and farm park in Yateley (Rob K land). My wife said she was hoping for a nice day, but if anything it was a bit too nice - rather hot for being outside! But it was excellent, and then we came home, the kids splashed in the paddling pool, I watched the final set of that tennis match (mostly missed the first two apart from dipping in via iPlayer) and then we had a barbecue.

And that was after the school fete and a friend's 40th party yesterday, school sports day on Friday... all with fantastic weather.

Back to work tomorrow...
