Scotland have seen their highest maximum temperature of the year so far for the second day running. On Monday 8 July, Glasgow Bishopton reached 27.6 C. So far, on Tuesday 9 July, this has been exceeded at Edinburgh Royal Botanical Gardens with 28.0 C, Edinburgh Gogerbank with 28.5 C and Strathallan Airfield with 28.7 C. For the UK as a whole, the 29.7 C reached at Bournemouth Hurn on Sunday 7 July still stands as the maximum UK temperature for 2013.

Aberdeen max tomorrow of 14c according to Nina Ridge just then. Be interesting to see how accurate that is as per earlier discussion.

Max of 27.5 °C here today. Not bad. Not bad.

I realise it will be cooler tomorrow but the BBC has just forecast 4 degrees below average (14°C) here tomorrow. A full eleven degrees cooler than today. That's some "weak feature".

Incidentally I have not received a reply yet regarding my query of the incredibly poor forecasts recently. (Both the last two days' temperature forecasts have been nine, yes nine, degrees out!)

Might be worth looking at Durham's official temp (it is an official station but releases its data later). Max today (on my PWS): 30.2°C.

I am beside myself in a way that only fellow weather buffs could understand.

Max looks like being 28°C officially at Durham from the graph. So not the 4th official day over 30°C. The observatory is on the top of a hill and exposed to any breeze, so tends to record lower maxes that most stations around the city, including reputable ones.

Maximum temp here today of 25.6C making it the warmest day here since 2 July 2009 when the exact same temperature was reached.  It's also only the 6th time that I've recorded 25C or above.

Humidity got down to as low as 45% an hour ago. At that time the air temperature was 18.8 C which gave a rather chilly dewpoint of 6.6 C! Does explain the crystal clear clean air, though.

A warm and still sunny evening here sat in my hotel room overlooking the Pennines from West Houghton, temp close to 22c. In the SE the sun would have set about 30 minutes ago.

The max was close to 26c up here today..beating anything experienced down in the chilly SE this year

Looks like today's UK max was 28.7C, recorded at both Strathallan Airfield and Linton-on-Ouse.

But Shannon in Ireland beat the lot with 29.4C!

An odd one that. Linton-On-Ouse is only a few miles from me, but my max was 27c yesterday afternoon. I've always suspected my sensor might over-estimate temperatures due to exposure etc., but never under-estimate.

Atleast if I wasn't working I would be able to sit in it all day without getting too hot and sweaty which is what I like, sit out of the breeeze and can easily add a few digits to the temperatures anyway, Yesterday late afternoon I did that and it felt really warm sitting against the back fence facing SE ................ Oh and the nights have been very easy to sleep in

That doesn't happen very often in the Emerald Isle.

And there's a good chance of more heat a few days later.
