A cell of 20mms an hour just to my east and very dark with the sun sill shining.

Picked up nicely on net radar.

Yay!  Good fork of lightning and almighty crack of thunder.  Big spots of rain but they're drying as they hit the ground, sounds good on the conservatory roof though!  Brought the barbie in under the deck for shelter!   

It looks like this is moving away East.

A cell has gone up over mid Wales with lighting being detected on net radar.

The sun is back out now but I can still see the thunder cloud to my East and still hear the thunder rumbling in the distance.   Not much rain at all and it didn't even wet the ground but it was a nice bonus to have the electrical activity! 

It's my eldest's 41st birthday today and when he was a growing up he had many a birthday storm.  One year a storm caused a power cut while I was baking his birthday cake in the electric oven!  A neighbour with a gas oven finished it off for me!

I don't think you'll get the one we've just had Duane as it's gone East.  Got the Ashes on TV and the sky over Trent Bridge is looking fairly clear as well.  The commentator just said it's raining in North Notts and they showed footage from the sky blimp showing the thunder clouds.

If anything the convective clouds have melted away, even as I look out over the Pennines they have reduced. Don't think there will be any showers today within 5-10 miles now.

Did anywhere have any thunder today (Sunday) in the UK?

There was a house struck by lightning on Saturday 13th July, around 5pm.. set fire to the roof and spread to the adjacent roof as well......... Sturdee Rd, Eyres Monsel, Leicester. Around 3 to 4 miles away from my house..

this lot has really started to bubble up over past 40 minutes or so, also a tiny spot on metoffice radar 14:30 about 70 miles south of IOW.. could just be a anomaly however it is in the direction these clouds are coming from.

Rain showing on the radar towards Le Havre way. Local aviation area forecast has issued a warning about thunderstorms over nearby France.

Is that a cell developing West of Paris?

Odd, my lightning app is showing a lightning direct hit on Biddenden....!!
Anyone able to confirm? Its up the road from Headcorn....

Hi islander! ! Bit ott that statement...I use mobile storm for android, powered by nexstorm/astrogenic... seems usually reliable, but all my weather apps been a bit iffy in this hot weather.... its a free one, I also have a blitzortung one, that covers europe as well, got that off the android appstore I think as well.... another free one.
