A mere 26.4 °C today, the first time since Thursday that we haven't broken 80 °F. Summer is over!

As I'm currently in a period of self-study in preperation for my Masters degree in Meteorology starting in September, which puts me at home for long stretches of time, I'm actually finding myself subject to what I call 'faux-abroad syndrome' which sees my brain assuming that I'm in the Mediterranean or something and trying to wind-down as a result.

It's making all this studying extra-challenging, but I'm willing to deal with that in exchange for a memorable period of high-summer weather here in the UK

From the model output it looks like my brain will be rivalling your average sloth in about a week's time

I am absolutely loving this heatwave!😁

I think in all the years we've lived at our house, we have eaten outside on or or two occasions....this spell we have eaten outside in the evening about 6 times already, feels like we're on holiday😎

The only problem I have is sleeping at night, I feel exhausted😲

Anyway, a quick glance at the models seems to show tomorrow being yet another hot day (away from the coast, of course) then a slight cool down over the weekend as the wind start to come in from the North Sea for a time, then there is the potential for my area to experience the big heat as we go into next week due to winds trying to come in from the SE (hence the hint I've dropped in my Cloud Master forecast). Wonder if that'll bring a heightened risk of thundery activity in the process? By that time the SSTs will have risen quite considerably.
