I'm stood out in my garden watching bright lightning to my north and north west. Seems not to be moving as some of the flashes are lighting up the garden.

The small pockets coming over the channel seam to be intensifying as they hit the coast. London looks like round 3 is about to kick off.

Storm in progress, booming thunder, lots of lightning, moderate to heavy rain but nothing special at the moment.

Getting closer.

Lightning is still going off to my north west but can now see the crack of dawn (that sounded a bit wrong!).

My rain gauge only measured 18.9 mm! I'm sure it's much more than that. Will check the inside of the rain gauge for cobweb, and the roof for loose tiles (that gustnado-type wind at the beginning was something else!).

Now feeling really clammy and close at 18.9 C with 99% humidity. That's going to feel very uncomfortable when the sun does come out.

EDIT: Looks like Matty is getting pasted as a cell has formed over the Bristol area.

Thunder's still rumbling on here, although the lightning isn't as visible as it was earlier. The orange light of dawn is to the east (the sun having risen 15 minutes ago) and it's MUCH darker than it usually is at this time of day - I'm going to need my lights when I drive off to work shortly!

Side note: I don't think I've ever seen it as busy on here at this time of day before!

The storms know where they are so have decided to start to weaken and fizzle out in general as they get closer to here. Oh dear..
