Just had a rumble of thunder.  Has to be said, a bit of a non-event here with just 3.4mm so far.

The boring thundery rain just started here, most of the action is clipping the South East, unless get lucky with some homegrown ones like the Midlands

And the torrential rain has arrived.  The lightning part is still infrequent, though but when they do happen, it's impressive. At least there isn't that horrible gusty wind (that's the bit I don't enjoy).

The cloud above us is certainly in a state of confusion, roiling and moving in different directions.

But I can see clear skies over the Channel.

Had lightning overhead a couple minutes ago and a much closer clap of thunder. Still not much activity despite the very dark skies. RR increasing and temperature falling much more rapidly. 4.4mm 18.9c

One flash of lightning seen. We are right at the western edge of the heavy stuff so rain hasn't been anything to write home about so far.

Moderate rain with large drops and intermittent rumbles of thunder here.... Nothing exciting yet, but enough to get the dog ruffled.

Anyway, I think that's it for now as I can see clear skies over the Channel. I have to admit having that "Oh, is that it?" feeling. Yes, I got to see some forked lightning and yes I got some useful heavy rain for the lawn but it was nowhere as impressive as the one I had on Tuesday morning.
There doesn't seem to be any more where that came from so I guess it's up to me to say "Enjoy" to those who are getting it as the whole thing trundles slowly north-east wards as we go into the rest of the evening.
