Just one very distant roll of thunder heard. The rain has, at last, wet the ground, though it did struggle. This much anticipated event is so far a non-event here.

Update from Leicester, Narborough Rd Area....
Rain started around 18:30, gradually got heavier, still lobbing it down enough to screw the SKY channels up!
First thunder heard at 19:30, its been rumbling around ever since... outside temp now down to 18C from 24C at 18:30
Rain and thunder increases then decreases, increases, decreases like in waves...

By the way, we called off the speedway meeting tonight between Leicester and Sheffield at 13:45, based on the forecast... its turned out to be the correct call. Rearranged for 18:00 tomorrow, weather permitting!!!!!!
Cheers

Properly torrential rain on the back edge of the system, enough to block out the sky satellite signal, so a bit of a sting in the tail - no thunder though

I think for many in the SE they may feel let down from this event as the most exciting sferics remained the other side of the channel. It certainly motored on through very quickly too having already cleared much of the SE. The rain has eased here too now with a total of 9.0mm. The most exciting weather now is in the North as a mix of todays thunderstorms formed over the Midlands earlier mix with the thundery rain from further South. Certainly unspectacular for 90% of the populous I would say.
