Belgium Monday 5th Aug 2013


After reaching 31c in several places it all ended in tears for the town of Lier in Antwerp Province after a Tornado hit and caused quiet some damage , especially to the Football Stadium !

Europe sure has had an active summer when it comes to storms! Estofex Lvl 2 warnings flying on most days and with a few Lvl 3 warnings, which before this summer had only been seen once or twice!


Thanks Cavok for the links to some amazing storm footage, despite the risk I wish I had been there! I'd have been stood gawping like an idiot... but under shelter of course!

It was a wild night! Gust front came through at 10pm, felled a good number of trees, one of which brought down the power line. No picture opportunities as the sky was well covered before the storms got going - nice captures further north in the Keraunos report.

The pom*****and EDF have done a good job - electricity restored and a good pile of firewood in the driveway.

Wow pretty impressive.

This was 2 days ago on the Belgian coast. To think how close that was to uk, we always just miss out :-(
