Fair enough Caz, but you'll be scoring a default of 6 points (equal to half the maximum possible this month) for the first 25°C as that's already happened. Then comes the 3 points for being three days late... never mind, I'm sure you'll do just fine regardless

Topped 27.5ºC today as ManUtdMatt1986 pointed out

It sure feels like a roaster today, with almost no wind and high humidity - sweltering even taking a late afternoon stroll!

Thanks SC!  I'll take the penalty on the chin!

It's not about the winning, it's the taking part and I just didn't want to miss a month.

For anybody wondering, I should have the first chart up in the next few days - just getting some busy times out of the way right now.

The September Prediction Game Graph

There goes the first three categories already...! Altnaharra fell all the way down to at least -1.7°C last night, which is in stark contrast to the maximum of 30.2°C seen at Writtle yesterday, possibly equalling the maximum seen in that extraordinary September of 2006.

jamesthemonkeh is off to an early lead but is closely followed by RobSnowman (who would be level if not for the penalty points). A small step behind, ManUtdMatt is tied with me at 5 points.

At the other end of the table, the bottom 5 seem to be in a league of their own, but there's still room for dramatic comebacks when the end-of-month stats come in. I suspect we already know what the maximum UK temperature will be

Just watching and waiting at this stage. To date, the UK maximum for September is 30.2°C (5th) which will almost certainly be the final figure. The UK minimum is -2.4°C (6th - yes one day after the maximum was set!).

Rainfall is at 102% of the average for 1st-22nd September (climate-uk.com figure) and may not change much depending on how close the troughs get from the weekend onwards.

Sunshine is at 88% and I'm not sure how that one will change - as the trough nears I guess sunny spells will be the order of the day.

The September Prediction Game Graph

Congratulations to doctormorg who has won this month's prediction game

Despite only nailing the first two on the head, I've scraped second place while ManUtdMatt1987 takes the third podium place.

I'm short on time and energy so I'll leave it there for now, but I'll aim to produce the usual annual stats as soon as I can

Thanks as always to all entrants, for keeping this game alive and well
