Raining here now, though looks as though nothing that spectacular, looks all to the SW

Raining properly here now, I would class it as "peeing it down".

Actually, it's now quite heavy.

EDIT: And it's stopped. Got 2.7 mm out of this cloudburst.

Is anyone noticing this strange multilayered effect at the rear end of this rainbelt as it moves into Kent showing up on Raintoday's radar?

An hour and a half of moderate rainfall here. About twenty mins of that you'd describe as heavy. Now cleared. Certainly nothing of note at all. A glance at the radar suggests the real rain went west of here across Wales.

Heavy bursts of rain here now.

It is raining as the eastern end of that rain belt passes over Kent. It is nothing too special (moderate with the occasional tropical-like blobby stuff) and yet the radars are showing a very intense core between Folkestone and Dover!
Still, every little helps as we do need the rain anyway.

There is that noteable dip in temperatures as it went from 17.2 C an hour ago to 15.7 C currently. 95% humidity.

Certainly for CS areas, the narrow band moving quite quickly North has underwhelmed respective of modelled amounts.
Not over yet though for the NW and totals will accumumlate here.
Then we have the (still forecast) area moving into CS, SE and EA overnight. We shall see, but my philosophy is always not to be too critical until after the event.

That said, I'm wondering whether the band forecast for the far SE tonight might end up further west...

Bust (so far) for this area. Winchester has received 0.5mm today. As we are still in the plume it will be interesting to see if this can be salvaged later

Dry now, not much at all from today's event

A large area of drier weather now across the South, maybe that is the lot?

I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet as I'm using old fashioned eyesight and can see there being that "lifting" effect; as in cumulus rising from the base quite rapidly under this cirrostratus later.

Just starting to rain heavily here, but it looks a narrow band and moving quite fast.

Well for my area, that was a damp squib to say the least.

The warnings suggested 20-40mm of rain in my area, I recorded the grand total of 4mm.

I know there is possible showers on the way this evening, but it will have to go some to get anywhere near 20-40mm.

Fail IMBY - although I concede that the radar suggests it was rather wet to my west.

50 miles is miniscule in the grand scheme of things.

Some in authority must have egg on there faces this evening as the event was expected to be much more widespread. Just as I type the first sun of the day streams through the window. However, it's not necessarily over yet as the second swipe in the SW approaches looks quite lively too.

Had a whole 1mm of rain here today (of which half fell overnight) - that's about 65% of 'average' and half what NAE predicted .....

Edit: currently looks like tomorrow's rain (which was always predicted to be the 'main event' here) will likely track a bit further west and mostly miss us too.

Two thorough and persistent drenchings this morning, one walking the dog into town at 11 am and another walking back. Both had torrential episodes lasting several minutes and anyone who claims the forecast for very lively downpours was a failure is welcome to come round and wring out the dog for evidence.
