Amounts of rain will be very variable, but locally 20-30 mm is possible within an hour and 40-50 mm within 3 hours,

mainly in the southwest, but many places will receive much less than this

This has been an overated event, the GFS ppn map got this right, a bit of a soaking yes but nothing extreme. Not seen any orange warnings out from the Met Office so some people have overhyped this.

Two thorough and persistent drenchings this morning, one walking the dog into town at 11 am and another walking back. Both had torrential episodes lasting several minutes and anyone who claims the forecast for very lively downpours was a failure is welcome to come round and wring out the dog for evidence.

Just returned from a call out to a fire nr New Romney, and the rain started as soon as I made my way to the fire station to pick up our vehicle. Not intense rain, but heavy enough to soak me within a few minutes, whilst farting around with the compound gates! Stood down en-route, the soaked again farting around with compound gates on return. Meh!

Yes the SE corner looks the place to be tonight. That in the SW I don't think will come to much as it spreads inland but I might be wrong.

Just seen a distant flash to my south west from what looks like a discrete cell over the Channel ahead of the main one.
