It wasn't one of the most spectacular thunderstorms that I experienced but it was one of my favorites. It was Friday 8th October 1993 and a trough was moving NEwards. By Friday evening, the thundery trough was approaching my area by about 7.30pm with lightning and distant thunder. For about 2 hours or so we had thunder and lightning, sometimes loud and sometimes the lightning flashes lit up the everything. It wasn't especially frequently but it was reasonable. The rain was heavy at times. It would be good to see something similar soon as I had seen a decent night storm here for quite sometime.

Funny you brought this up. I was always trying to find a reference of link to a very long thunderstorm that hit here in West Scotland but I think it was late summer 92. I'm surprised I can't find anything about it.

I always remember it as it was a few weeks after I started my first job out of School. I distinctly remember there was on and off thunder all day from about mid-morning till about 9pm and then it developed in to a full blown overnight storm for about 6 hours, then from about 3-4 AM onwards it was intermittent thunderstorms that did not relent until about midday that day.

Quite a spectacular event that I cannot find any references to anywhere.
