Reports of the first snowfall of the season from my sis-in-law in Ukraine on Wednesday - an unusually cold Autumn over there.


And I have also heard reports of heavy falls in the Carpathians in Romania this week.

Heavy rain and floods in parts of Thailand, where my Mother in Law lives, Chaiyaphum, floodwater as deep as 2 metres, coupled with disease and skin compaints from chemical leaks due to flooding.

The lowest temperature recorded in Cairo this recent cold spell was 5.0C so whatever that report is referring to is not snow in Cairo. There have been showers and thunderstorms along the coastal strip so maybe it was hail but definitely not snow.

I would agree with hail for this image and some of the other Cairo pics in the link but definitely no getting away from the fact that there were large quantities of real snow in unusual locations.
