Some nasty stuff moving though the Brest (France) moving NE.

That lot should hit Dorset/Somerset in the next couple of hours.

Was in Havant at 8.30pm and had quite a violent 10 minutes of torrential rain and rapidly veering and backing wind squalls.
I suspect something was going on aloft but didn't have a decent field of view.

Trip back home just now and plenty of deep water on the roads.

Susan Powell on the 10.35pm weather on BBC1 came as close as I've ever heard a weather forecaster come to predicting tornadic activity tonight.

Her comment was "the system coming up from the south west has the same energy as the storm that hit Hayling Island at the weekend".

THAT is suggesting something very very dramatic could come off tonight.

Very exciting but also a bit worrying!

There is a lot of showery activity down to the SW at the moment but little of it is electrified and the precipitation has become less organized. So I'm going to leave you tonight with my thought that don't be surprised if very little happens. I think most areas will see some sort of squall line pass through overnight but for many it will be far from dramatic and for a few there may be something more exciting. I think the squall passing through Central Southern England and the Home Counties earlier will probably be the most exciting for many things are going to get, but of course i could be wrong, the morning will tell.

Stunning lightening visible to the west of Chichester this evening... No doubt that was the storm that Havant, Portsmouth and other places to our west were getting. Could someone explain to be in layman's terms why no Thunder was audible?.. The storms would only have been about 10 miles from here..

Radar has really sprung to life with a very heavy band of rain up through Somerset and Bristol, and a larger band sweeping up across Cornwall and Devon and into Wales.

I'm too far east for much excitement but the wind has really picked up and is rattling the air vents.
