My gut feeling is the storm will be a half-way house affair, with the swathe of damaging gusts limited to the S Coast and SE, but no doubt there will be reports of significant affects by the morning.

The pressure is falling quickly now in Exminster (SE Devon). The wind has just picked up markedly from 2mph (gst 5) to 12mph (gst 18) in 10 mins. The direction has also changed from SE to SW suddenly.

Though the media will probably make more of it than there really is.  I cant see this being anything more than a typical Autumn storm.  (though parts of northern france will get a hammering)

Expect a few blown over trees (due to being heavy in leaf)  a few larger than normal puddles (due to leaves in the drains) and slower trains (due to cautious Netwrok rail)

There wiill be Reporters in Cardiff, Portsmouth, and dover all reporting - semi new stories, bins blown over, big waves, slight disruption.

Sevenstones Lightship reporting 988.9mb at 21z a fall of 3.4mb in one hour

Scilly, St Mary's reporting 988.4mb at 21z.

The 18z NAE may be right as the system does not seem to be deepening quite as fast as earlier runs were projecting but there is still time.

Strong winds now developing off the NW coast of France to the south of the low centre. 60mph gust at Brest and 65mph at Ploumanach.

The thing you have to be a bit careful about in theses readings is you dont know if local convective management is going on in such an unusual and complex unstable air espo within a base core of low pressure like this

Neils is a little different because it has history when we are a bit stuck like this it might be better imo to use at t surface chart to get better idea of shape and form and gradents etc or watch wait and c
