Huge slot of dry air getting ingested into the system from the NW

Though the media will probably make more of it than there really is.  I cant see this being anything more than a typical Autumn storm.  (though parts of northern france will get a hammering)

Expect a few blown over trees (due to being heavy in leaf)  a few larger than normal puddles (due to leaves in the drains) and slower trains (due to cautious Netwrok rail)

There wiill be Reporters in Cardiff, Portsmouth, and dover all reporting - semi new stories, bins blown over, big waves, slight disruption.

Looks like for those who live Watford southwards, possibly just a blustery breeze blowing and maybe not the event that was progged 36 hours ago. May end up more violent in East Anglia yet. Guess we will have to wait and see.

LOL doesn't matter if it's rain, snow or wind, people write it off when nothing is kicking off several hours before it is meant to arrive!

Strongest winds here are due between 7am and 10am according to Met Office maps so I will wait till then before the post mortem.

BTW an hour ago we had a spell of exceptionally heavy rain, purple on Raintoday at 9pm.

Two local weather stations on the Isles of Scilly reporting a low pressure of 984mb currently and a current windspeed of 37mph. Things are starting to pick up.

My brother lives on St. Martins, one of the smaller islands and he has texted to say that the conditions are starting to go down hill but that so far it isn't too bad.

Going purely on infrared and rainfall imagery, The LP looks to be approaching the Bristol Channel on a ENE track. That's not too bad dependant of the proximity of the strong winds on its southern flank. I'm slightly more optimistic that I may escape the worst but a lot can happen in a few hours, as evidenced by whats currently already occuring

Sky News is calling it Super Storm.

I find the whole media coverage of this, grotesque, IMO.

I never seen so much media hype and speculation over a possible gale event.

I wish we could go back 30 years ago with measured news coverage.

The truth of the matter is no one knows how it will all pan out not even a met wizard or wizards it does make me wonder if that maybe should be said on telly only trouble some people might go into total panic and also understand the mets point of view about public safety.

Raining quite heavily and the wind is just staring to pick up. It's going to be a long and hairy night, I'll be glad when it's behind us by 9 am.

Currently at 988.3mb, dropped by 1.5mb in the last hour, it should start dropping quite quickly over the next couple of hours since I should be near the centre of the low pressure.
