Fergusson tweeting only an hour or two ago that this area could well see some of the worst weather, 80mph+.... Now saying we will miss the worst. Gusts to 50-60mph. Basically not a clue, like the rest of us. A fluid situation.

I'm guessing / hoping that something has gone wrong with the local weather station on St. Martins, Isles of Scilly - the 10min windspeed there is currently registering 86mph! With a top gust of 105mph!!

As i said i'm guessing it's a fault but I know the station is situated at the top of the island in a very exposed location. It was reporting 40 - 45mph steady winds about a half hour ago
If I was in Norfolk, near the coast, I'd keep a very close eye on developments later this morning.
I'm calling it a night, although I still expect to be disturbed in the early hours (by the wind especially LOL).

wow! should be able to depend on that station, same as mine but lower wind reading! wow!

Recent gust of 32mph ( up from 22mph earlier)

Indeed, just wasn't sure what the query was about, thought I would throw that in

To avoid lots of confusion, it looks like a glitch with the station. About 15 miuntes ago it was recording a very high wind speed and this was on the web page above. That webpage has been updated and the very high windspeed figure has gone. Hope that makes sense!
It was showing 105mph a little earlier Rob - I suspect that's what SD meant?

Wind has just increased dramatically from 10 minute mean of 2mph to 28mph in 10 mins (2310-2320). Gusts 46mph now, quite wild in Exminster 4 miles South of Exeter.

I see SW Trains are running a revised timetable tomorrow. 50mph speed limit, likely no trains at all before 8am. Bunch of jokers. It's not going to be *that* bad. Reduce speed yes, in case of trees or debris on line, but no early trains at all? It's not a bloody hurricane FFS.
Trouble is Rob, the media storm is probably going to outweigh the ACTUAL storm and in the current climate of health and safety above all else, this was always likely to happen.
I'm not subscribing to this all being a "storm in a teacup", and I'm sure there will be some gusty winds tomorrow, but as you say, this is NOT a hurricane or anything anywhere near.
In the day of 24 hour rolling news channels, they've got to give themselves work, and this is why it's being (in my opinion), over-covered!
