So far only minor damage in the area so I think we'll be ok now. A lot of cars driving around so most people seem to be treating it as a normal Monday morning

Large gusts here. Pretty wild morning and an impressive gale but clearly better than feared. Some small debris and one crack of a branch falling heard but not too bad. Met office have done a good job. Media will have lot to answer for for all the hype last night though.

The temperature's falling (from 16.8 to 15.2C in the last hour) and the pressure has levelled off at 981 hPa - it looks like we're in the squally phase of the low now down here.

The main even has just hit here. Pressure reading 960.6 and the wind has picked up very quickly in the last 10 minutes. Raining heavily now too.

The Eucalyptus loses another limb - this time cartwheeling into next doors garden (to my SE), narrowly avoiding their greenhouse (phew).  Hoping that these gusts are going to abate soon.

982 - the barometer's rising now, the low's moving away. There'll continue to be some squally gusts for a while yet though, the tightest "squeeze" on the isobars is now over Kent.

The sting is  in the tail as the deepening depression  moves  out into the North Sea giving East Anglia some severe conditions right now.

My station has just recorded an 18.4m/s gust which is impressive considering it's sheltered from the wind by buildings. Pressure rising very fast now.
