Indeed, a bit of a change in our weather now but thankfully the squall line itself doesn't seem to be that bad. There is a certain "Oh, is that it?" element about it.
 
Of course, we now have to put up with the strong winds for the rest of the day and into tonight - but at least it's coming in from the west where the hilly bit with the "scary looking tower" should shield me from the worst of the gusts anyway. Hopefully.

Going to get a bit messy along the coast line as the strengthening winds concides with the rising spring tide tonight.

Finally winter is here. Drove from home to Ft William and snow line was just above the A87 level so about 300m. Sleet falling with good snow cover above 450m. Car temp went to 2c with an ice warning. Back home 5c and showers.

Observations between 8.30 pm last night and 8.30 pm currently.

LAST NIGHT: Rain in the first half of the night, then mostly cloudy in the second half of the night.
THIS MORNING: Bright spells and partial cloud cover.
THIS AFTERNOON: Sunny periods and variable cloud amounts, then it became squally for a very short time at 4 pm then clear skies for the rest of the day.
CURRENT: Mainly clear. Windy.       12.1 C.      75% humidity.        Dewpoint: 7.8 C.       Fresh to strong south west winds.         Becoming steady at 997.5 mb.

WINDS: Calm last night, then light to moderate south west during the day, it picked up to as fresh later on in the afternoon.
AIR QUALITY: Superb, very clean and fresh, especially in the evening.
VISIBILITY: Excellent. Poor for a short time in the afternoon.
COMFORT FACTOR: Rather damp and cool, then it became wet for a time in the afternoon. However the current strong wind is having a definite drying effect right now.
RAINFALL (in mm):   4.8
TEMPERATURES (in C):         Max: 15.4 at 12.30 pm.             Min: 10.7 at 4 am.

LAST NIGHT: Very windy with driving rain in the first half of the night, then the wind died at around midnight but it carried on raining for the rest of the night anyway.
THIS MORNING: Dull with further rain at first, then it brightened up at dead on 11 am with quite sunny skies by mid-day.
THIS AFTERNOON: Unbroken sunshine.
CURRENT: Clear.      5.9 C.       84% humidity.         Dewpoint: 3.4 C.        Light north west winds.        Rising to 998.0 mb.

WINDS: Gale force south last night, then it eased back to as moderate to fresh north in the small hours and stayed that way during the day until eventually as light north west in the evening.
AIR QUALITY: Sparking clean and fresh.
VISBILITY: Fair first thing this morning, then superb by the afternoon.C
COMFORT FACTOR: Cold and very wet this morning with localised flooding. Then it actually felt pleasantly mild in the sunshine despite the chill in the air by the afternoon, which helped to dry things up.
