Here are BBC Weather and news reports from mid December 2009 to mid January 2010. It was a period, I won't forget with heavy snowfalls, long periods of lying snow, a white Christmas and negative double digit  minima and on some days, beautiful clear blue skies with a mantle of snow.

Excellent work, Kevin. But I'm wondering if you are either on first name terms with the founders of Youtube or they are sending you messages pleading you to go easy on their servers!

PS: This event may have got a litte lost in the mist of times when it comes to recalling it from memory but I do rememeber the amazing thundersnow event a month later on the 11th of February where heavy snow being accompanied with lightning dumped 23 cm overnight and into the morning.

Actually, just remembered that I have some photos taken on that January 2010.

I'll just show the postage sized images for now, as not to clutter up this page too much.

Indeed, we did get some snow on the 22nd December 2009 but I can recall that not really being a particularily memorable event and in fact we had missed out on a White Christmas . . .

But winter returned as snow began to fall at my coastal location on Wednesday 6th January '10 . . .

Then it got going on the 8th January with drifting over the hills.

And on Sunday 10th January '10 with strong winds encouraging more drifiting. Mind you, this was over them thar hills where the climate can be so different compared to my sea level home location only four miles away. I can recall the coastline not having really got that much snow at this point as elevation played quite a role on this occasion.

And on 15th January where a thaw was setting in over the coast line but still remained wintry over the hills and where my former hilltop based workplace was. Thought I'd use a bit of artistic licence while I was at it  . . .

But the February 11th 2010 thundersnow event is what really did it for me as it was where the coast actually got hit by the snow more than the hills due to a series of Kent Clippers dumping 23 cm of snow at my home location overnght . . .

The snow kicked in again on the afternoon of 10th Feb with drifting and a severe wind chill over the high ground.

And at sea level the next morning . . .

The winter of 2010 was quite snowy in nature having thought about it! It then lead to a thundery Summer and of course, THAT December.

6000 Uploads?

I thought I was doing well with 719!

09/10 was a fantastic winter for consistent cold and plentiful (but not usually disruptive here) snow.

There was that one big let-down between Christmas and New Year though. I remember for a time around Christmas it really did look like we was setting up a late December pattern similar to late Dec 62 and 78, but in the end it just didn't quite come together...

Thankfully because it was Christmas week nobody noticed, but my Christmas Eve Thoughts that year wasn't my best for sure.

Yes the 2-5 cms for here was well underestimated. No indication there of the cyclogenesis that took place towards the Channel. Ended up with 25cm LOL!
