I took these photos in 2011 when I spotted something odd falling back to earth somewhere on Chat Moss. It must have been of some length because it was some distance away

Looks like a length of polytunnel (the small thin ones used to protect delicate plants from frost) that had got sucked up by a dust devil or even a funnel cloud and then carried along the air like a kite blowing along in the wind.

It's not unlike part of a weather balloon, but it does seem a very long piece.
We've found a couple here, with transmitter and antenna still attached. The units had a note on saying no longer required, finder may discard.
(do they even use balloons much now with improved satellite data?)
