What's all this on the BBC news about a cyclone in Sardinia? Cyclone indeed? Very bad weather, yes, but not a cyclone!
At least it will be mild!

A cyclone in the same sense that an area of high pressure is an anticylone... 🙂

As far as I wad aware the term "cyclone" plus a name was only used for storms in the Indian ocean.
At least it will be mild!

Irrespective of terminology it was a devasting storm system, sadly, loss of lives.

Also, a cyclone is used to describe a tornado. I think the original author of the Wizard of Oz used that term to describe the tornado.
