At least I think it was, the cloud layer was almost stationary and something seemed to have started a cascading effect through this hole.
In the close-up you can see some refraction and also perhaps that the air from above the cloud was continuing to flow through the hole - almost like a waterfall - condensing into a tail of lower level cloud as it did so.

There's been a great layer of Altocumulus undulatus over Yorkshire - I thought I saw a fall streak hole too,but it was too far away to be sure (it wasn't over the NYM though, so it wasn't yours!)

Certainly a good example of a "hole punch" cloud. I can also make out the "mock sun" in the fall streak itself in the third image.
