Contrast reported on local radio this morning, obviously strong inversion conditions:

Saddlescombe is about 6km from Ditchling, but in a frost hollow at the bottom of the Devil's Dyke near Brighton

After a cold, frosty start with a low of -2.8c the temperature is rising rapidly, in fact in the past 10 mins it has risen 4c. Now at 7.4c with light rain.

Interestingly earlier on the temp was -2c here, 4 miles away on the hill it was 8c at the same time.
