The calm before the storms!

Currently showery, damp and breezy from the north east. Very mild once again, with totally stupid temperatures for mid December. Over 14C in Portree yesterday. Not quite as wet today as it was yesterday thankfully, when we had a fair bit of flooding thanks to 26mm of rain falling in just a few hours. All the water has gone now though.

A very stormy weekend to come for us. Two deep depressions are set to affect us, one tomorrow which looks set to bring wind speeds for us in the 70mph - 80mph region with 60 - 70mph widely across the island. Then a brief respite during Sunday (50mph) before the next system pushes past during Sunday night / Monday morning. Again we are looking at wind speeds perhaps into the 80mph region from this pesky system, perhaps even higher depending on depression track.

So, I'll be expecting a decent return from our community wind farm shares this month , as it has been very wild (the last four days have seen peak gusts here at or near 60mph) so lots of generating to be done.

Seems that everyone is in the same boat as me in terms of it being dull and damp.
