I think we may need one of these as the Atlantic racks up over the next week or so.

Heavy showers are moving into the west at the moment and sferics have been detected to the S & W of the Irish mainland.

Some thundery activity over Western Scotland this evening

Significant area of thundery activity to the south of the latest low pressure, west of Ireland

Much attention on the Cold Front which will race across the country this evening. Getting organised into a band of heavy rain with another post frontal intense linear feature behind it. Unsurprisingly TORRO are interested

I suspect that the upper cold front has overun the surface one and we have 2 distinct bands of rain rushing across England. The heavy rain on the first band is pursued by a narrow active squall line now over South West England. That could be fun and games for a few

The current squall is fragmenting and reforming as they often do in places

Heavy driving rain here but some nasty stuff out west and southwest near B'ham.

Plenty of activity across Scotland and N.Ireland on the sferic plotter.

Todays focus will be on a developing airmass trough that will cross many places later today. Aside from the wintry potential, this looks to be a potent convective style feature once again

Almost a full house on the MetO weather warnings page, just need some fog for the full set. Not very likely though!

Just had the bluest lightning flash followed by hail and heavy rain, then just at the end about 30 secs of huge wet snow flakes then it stopped as suddenly as it began.

In fact that blue echo on the rainfall radar coincided perfectly as it went over Epsom!

No snow, no thunder or lightning, however the temperature lost 4C whilst the rainband passed through... went from 7.7C to 3.7C in around 50/60 mins....

Thunderstorm over London as I left work just after 7. Not that close to me and no hail observed but pretty heavy rain.

Saturday evening looks quite interesting now, a disturbance zipping through Wales and England has the potential for some potent storms.
