Short loss of power and Wi-Fi a few minutes ago .

Two nearby flashes and rumbles of thunder and a good soaking walking back from town.  Looks much worse to the south.

All eyes in the short term on the air mass trough now approaching Wales and the SW. A lot of thundery activity in there and a classic squall signature on the radar on the leading edge

Net radar looks impressive out west with a band of locally torrential rain and thunderstorms mixed n moving NE.

Second thunderstorm of the day. Hail squally winds and some truly awful conditions outside.

Recent close and distant lightning here this morning. A rather 'wavy' sharp trough with an interesting feature on the IOW just now.

Met Office website is far more reliable on lightning strikes than either of those two. The only sferics on there at the moment are way off to the west of Ireland.

The cold front did get into squall line mode across parts of the south late in the afternoon but the frontal wave has stopped that process for now. As the wave passes the front could well become an active squall which won't help things one bit.

TORRO have a warning out for vorticity in connection with this feature
