The meto amber warning for the SE which is now out suggests inland gusts in the range 65-75mph

Only gusting to ~45 so far here but it's already blown a couple of small trees onto the Isle's main road - quite "fun" driving back from an MOT!

Not sure about here though record stands at 108mph at the airport 9th October 1964. Can't see that be beat this time.

LOL, though that appears to be the approach the Met Office are taking with this series of storms. The current one started off with a pretty much nationwide yellow wind warning, then was refined later to more specific areas. No doubt Friday's storm will be treated in the same manner.

The forecast gust speeds for Langdon Bay for 1pm were 55mph.  Given that 63mph was recorded an hour ago, I would suggest that the forecast for the hours around midnight of 77-81 mph may be short of the mark, and it is not unrealistic to suggest we may well reach 85mph+.  That would exceed the St Judes Day Storm (which was the most severe in my 9 years here).  Going to be an intersting 12 hours or so

Yeah, this one is looking to affect a large area.  Shanklin, Chichester, Portsmouth, Brighton, Worthing, Hastings, Eastbourne, Folkestone and Dover all appear to be in the firing line.  Areas inland in hants, Sussex and Kent also look vulnerable as gusts may push above 70mph even there. The worst of the conditions are not until just after midnight for around 3 hours.    I think my eucalyptus is enjoying its last few hours of being more than a stump.
