Pressure dropping very quickly as well. The GFS chart for 21z suggests my pressure reading should currently be about 982mb

It is actually currently 980.2mb and dropping like a stone

Just cycled back the 7 miles or so from Wokingham to Yateley. To be honest it sounds worse from inside the house than it is outside. Wet and windy for sure and a lot of water on the roads but not cold and actually oddly refreshing!

Quite a deep flood in a dip on the road around the corner, well above kerb deep. Still plenty of idiots ploughing through at 30mph though...

Useful link.  Shows today's maximum gusts thus far.  The top 4 are mountain/ mountain valley  stations like Cairngorm and Dun Fell; the lowland stations are currently headed by Langdon Bay, 74mph.  I expect that to be superceded by 11pm and by 1am we may have something in excess of 84mph?

However bad it seems now," the roar" is going to increase, peaking around 12 midnight to 2 am.  This is from the 18z GFS hi res and it shows the now inevitable peaking of gusts.

Worth noting that it's been a particularly windy day down on the Isles of Scilly - not so much for gusts (they peaked at around 75mph) but more in terms of average wind speed  - the peak for the day was 56mph which is a steady Storm force 10. It dropped through the afternoon and is now back up to 51mph. That sort of sustained wind does quite a lot of damage, even down on the islands which are used to a good gale.

We are not set to get the winds until tomorrow with a peak around 1PM, pretty wet day and another downpour just now.

The air pressure has been absolutely plummeting, down to 955.9mb, from 963 an hour ago, 968 at 6PM.

Winds have really picked up again here in the last half hour. I presume this is the cold front passing through, then they'll die down.

A truly spectacular storm, in terms of longeveity as much as anything else. Non-stop very heavy rain for over 12 hours, accompanied by the strongest winds I've experienced since '87.

Langdon Bay was up to 76mph at 2100 but that has probably been exceeded since; we now seem to be entering the key phase.

Don't look now, but the storm for the 27th looks horrendous for the West and then especially for the central belt and the NW of Scotland.

Yep the returning wave has developed right on cue and the rate of pressure fall is extraordinary - I actually think I feel light headed because of it.
The CF can clearly be seen across Cornwall and if anything it's a smidge further NW than modeled which may widen the area affected by the worst of the wind in the next four hours.
Certainly has been a rapid increase in gusts again and we are back up to the mid 60s again here.

Oh, and the rain is torrential.
