Morning,

Increasingly stormy, cold with wintry squlally showers of hail and sleet. Low pressure, 940.5hPa and falling. A87 once again is closed to high siders and most west coast ferries are disrupted.

Now there's some light, snow line on the mountains surrounding us around 300m, so about the same as yesterday.

Christmas Eve is dawning completely clear in Edinburgh with a bright moon and a strong increasing SW wind. Scotland and N Ireland in the firing line again today. Should be wild on the Royal Yacht today....thankfully she's firmly moored in Leith Harbour!

Wind is continuing to decrease slowly at present but in any case was not too bad overnight with one gust of 45mph about 2am
There was a fair bit of rain too taking the 24 hour total to about 18mm but far less than many places have had.

It is very breezy/gusty outside and seems to be getting windier. We have been having sleet/snowshowers coming thru the last couple of hours but only light. having said that the walk into town this morning felt perishing in the wind.

At least we will see a little snow today

Something of a clearence / eye right now. Low pressure but calmer with squally wintry showers. Expecting winds to pick up again through this evening and tonight. Very wet.
