tonight/tomorrows feature sharpens quite significantly on UKMO, doesnt look like much, but the winds may catch a few people out and fell already weakened trees

New Years Day also looking awful, with a similar secondary development which are hard to predict

It's ony 8 am and it's already blowing a full on gale, doesn't help that it's coming straight in from the south. Going by the charts, there's about 6 to 8 hours of this to come at this end with the possibility of a sting at the end.

Yet there's another round expected for Wednesday and that looks like having more of a punch.

Like many in here, I'm getting a bit cheesed off with this wind. I don't care if it doesn't or won't snow but wish that jet stream would go easy on us. Bloody Canadians.

70mph last night was the high as the squall line passed through, along with a few hours of torrential rain. No warnings were in force for us, and to be fair the intensity of the squall took me by surprise. It was extremely difficult to drive through.

The clearance has moved through here - the winds have  dropped markedly.

Wasn't as bad  as the previous 2  episodes here.

Indeed diddly do. But yes, it makes a change.

Anyway, the wind has dropped right down and it looks like I may catch the light from the setting sun very soon. That's another one down, another 10 or so weather systems to go.
But, the rain is very good at picking out the leaky bits on my roof as I have found two more - all around the flashing area so I may have to enlist my bro in law's services as a roofing contractor for the day. The felt is fine as that's only 12 years old but the flashing needs some work.
