Gusting storm force 10 just now, around 58mph with a peak gust of 61mph a little while ago. Average speeds are gale 8, around 43mph. Very mild, 8.5C with a little under 6mm of rain since about 9am.

It was very windy overnight although average speeds were low the gusts were quite hefty and this continues with gusts to 48mph from sustained speeds around 26mph.

The rain started at 8am and has gradually intensified currently at 8.5mm. With many roadside fields and verges still under water from Monday, localised flooding has already set in at the usual trouble spots.

It's gonna be a long day weather wise....

Almost night-like here... Torrential rain and hail, thunder and lightning on and off for the past couple of hours...  Back garden in Bovingdon (at work so can't see it myself) was carpeted in large white hailstones.   River Gade (in Hemel) has burst at usual places in parkland, but with more to come looking at the radar currently, not to mention rain over coming days, it doesn't look good.

Still no agreement regarding tomorrow, with the Met Office predicting rain across the SE clearing east, while NAE has rain further west and clearing NE, while GFS has a notable wave in the front keeping it across the UK for many hours longer as it stalls and pivots.

I must say I wish they'd update or replace NAE with something more accurate especially with regards to convection - the model gives me 1mm for the period 6am-6pm today. I've already had more than 10mm!

I'm not saying NAE will be wrong about tomorrow though - GFS could be overcooking the wave this time, although it certainly wasn't the Monday before last...

The wind here today is worse than the xmas storms and the next 'super-low' on Sun/Mon looks pretty bad as well

It's not so bad inland. Windy yes but nothing on the scale of last weeks blasts. I suspect how we perceive it depends on direction too, certainly some winds seem to shake the house more than others at the same speed.

Rain has eased off now just a we spit in the air. Total so far 9.8 so well short of Monday's 30+. Winds gusting to 52 from 30 now.

Lights have been flickering here too. I thought it had gone very dark, but then I realised the sun had set!
