Don't forget these temperatures are in farenheit.

Some places in the US have been down to -30C and lower.

Look at all these pictures.

The cause of our mild wet windy weather?

This is why, it's our average winter pressure pattern

Well we will get the weather eastern USA and Maritime Canada Experienced tomorrow, but without the blizzard and -10c. - Just wind and rain! It's usually the case that whenever it's really cold and snowy over there means it's wet and windy over here. I also note that this jet stream is moving much faster - usually the system/depression takes between 5-7 days to cross the Atlantic to reach the British Isles but with this system it's only taken less than a couple days!! - Crazy!!

Those lighthouse ones are at least a year old, they do not quite say they were taken now.

The reason recent storms have been more intense than we usually get is, at least in part, due to the frigid air mass across eastern parts of North America - and consequently colder than usual air moving eastwards across the much milder Atlantic waters: a perfect recipe for rapid cyclogenesis.

Interesting how the jet stream is so strong atm - Last few years there has been talk of the jet stream being weaker because of a warmer arctic and hence a lower temperature differential which is what creates the jet stream. Is the arctic much colder than it has been in recent years? Or the equatorial region warmer? If so, why?

The other day David King was on BBC first thing with this astonishing claim - but they didn't run the interview later in the day which was intrigueing.
I am at a loss how a month of stormy weather in mid-winter backs up his prediction from 2004.
