Cold, wet, windy. The squall yesterday evening blew the tarp covering the hole in our roof off- luckily I noticed this morning before the rain started! Mates at LHR report 15+ cars parked outside had their windows smashed in the wind yesterday pm. and sides of cars looking like they had been sandblasted by grit blown from car park floor !
On the Mid Sussex downs,156m amsl on ridge near Ardingly. Igloo built in our garden,2010, lasted till march !

Remaining stormy though less windy than earlier this morning. After warming up during the day, temps are on the slide again.

Observations between 8.30 pm last night and 6.30 pm currently.

LAST NIGHT: Clear at first, which I think enabled a frost to take a hold. But then high cloud filled in the sky just before dawnbreak.
THIS MORNING: Although I got to see a decent coloured sunrise, the high cloud thickend up during the course of the morning until it became thick enough to produce rain from 11 am onwards.
THIS AFTERNOON: Cloudy with persistent and quite heavy drizzle-type rain, then the cloud parted just in time to show the setting sun, then it lead to partial cloud cover and clear breaks for the rest of the evening.
CURRENT: Partial cloud cover.        Temperature, humidity and dewpoint readings are not available.     Moderate west wind.      Rising slowly to 990.6 mb.

WINDS: Fresh west last night, then strong south this morning and into the first half of the afternoon then it veered back to as west in late afternoon and eased off in the process.
AIR QUALITY: Fresh! I'll give it that.
VISIBILITY: Generally fair.
COMFORT FACTOR: Cold and wet. The wind had a chill to it.
RAINFALL (in mm): 3.0
TEMPERATURES (in C):         Max 8.1 at 4 pm.          Min: 2.1 at 4.30 am.
PRESSURE (in mb):          Max: 1015.2 at 3.30 am.             Min: 989.3 at 4.30 pm.
