My station recorded 209mm for the month, whether that's accurate or not i'm not sure, I can't see any reason for it not to be, all I know is we had a hell of a lot of rain here and most days saw rainfall and a lot of it heavy.

120.00 mm thus far and 3.2 today as the system arrived here a couple of hours ago.  My all time record of 133.2mm is probably out of reach, but my 2nd place of 126mm is up for grabs.  Second place at the moment belongs to December 2013.

6.8mm so far today with the total for the month standing at 126.2mm here in Folkestone . There is still another 3 or 4 hours left in this system meaning that I should reach 130mm for the month here.

Highest combined rainfall for south east England for the months of December and January since records began in 1873

1876/77 308.9mm

2013/14 298.7mm (to 29th Jan)

1914/15 286.4mm

With today's rainfall we should beat the record from 1876/77

The wettest winter on record for south east England (Dec-Feb) is 1914/15 with 390.2mm.

So we will probably need 80mm or more in February to break the record for the wettest winter ever in these parts. The current forecasts suggest we could see 100mm in the first 9 days of February. So it looks odds on at the moment for the wettest winter ever.

The forecast for Wednesday to Sunday next week currently looks absolutely appalling. If it verifies the flooding is going to become biblical.

About 200% normal - 148.4mm here, 3mm behind 2008.
However, given how windy it has been (=less rain caught in funnel) I think we would have probably beaten 2008 with a more technically correct setup..

14.4 yesterday, making 31st the wettest day of the month IMBY.   January 2014 was my 2nd highest of any monthly total of 131.2mm, 1mm off my record held by Dec 2012; but exceeding the old 2nd place held by December 2013 of 128mm.  This total almost doubles my previous wettest January totals.  Last January was a dryish one with around 40mm.  We can dream!!

The late additions to the rainfall accross England make me think that 2014 will be the wettest January exceding 1948.
