Its very bad here in Torquay. Has got much worse in last 20 minutes so I came here to look what others are witnessing. I just heard something loud that sounded like it broke off something and go down the road as I was reading the thread, something metal. The wind sounds very threatening!

I've just heard Truro City Football Club (In sheltered Truro, not the coast) have had one of their stands blown over by the wind...... I can't imagine that. Also Force 11 recorded.

The height of these winds was supposed to have passed, but it doesn't feel like it.

The odd heavier pulse of rain in amongst what is mainly light to moderate stuff. It's windy, but not overly so. All in all not as bad as I feared by a long way as the back edge of the rain makes its way toward us. That's not to say it won't have further catastrophic consequences for areas already flooded of course.

Very serious conditions in Cornwall this evening. The BBC Travel News webpage has a large number of reports of major roads closed due to fallen trees and power cables. Police report receiving calls to about 65 fallen trees in the space of just one hour.

BBC News website reporting 15,000 homes without power at present in the south west, at least 10,000 of those are in Cornwall.

Really wasn't expecting it to be this windy tonight. The gusts are louder than during the much heralded storms of earlier in the winter - it's whistling through the wood-burner and fanning the flames even down 12 metres of flue!

Seems to have slipped under the radar a bit, this one. The forecasts at the weekend said breezy but nothing severe.

Same here in Guernsey - trees down.  Houses taking a battering.  Flooding around the coasts and coast roads closed.

The wind here inland is really gusty...probably stronger than all these previous storms with more warning. An interesting night ahead.
