From Bosham, West Sussex, where Canute had his summer palace and is reputed to have tried conclusions with the tides



The quay



The Shore Road back to the village from the Quay (yes, over the bridge - it spans the millstream in which Canute's daughter is said to have drowned in an accident)



Tide flowing up the village street (and the debris suggested that last night's tide was a foot or so higher)



Well, I admit it floods each spring tide at least, but you can usually drive through it. This is taken looking down the street in the previous photo.



This gap is actually a driveway to a group of houses, with the road to the right of the wall.

To be fair the road along the front at Bosham is tidal, as the signs indicate, although it doesn't usually come up quite that high! A lovely place - I have fond memories of going there as a kid as my gran used to live not far away (in Hambledon, which is also flooding at the moment, but from groundwater!)
