A good 2 inches in 2 hours and still coming down heavily. The council have beem caught out as no roads have been gritted and even main roads are lethal.

Excellent pics there, Simon.

I've been watching the radar and at one time it looked like the PPN band was going to head towards east Merseyside/North Cheshire, but it's now moving more ENE'wards towards Manchester. I expect the northern Peak District is going to get some decent snow cover from this little feature

Stopped now. The intensity with which it came down was amazing, the biggest flakes I have ever seen, at one point they were the size of my hand. Just waiting for the rain now!

Is this the same area that got those ridiculous depths of like 50-80cms the other year?

Last March, we were in Wrexham a week or so after some really heavy snow. Our snow had all melted during a week of sunny spells, but there was loads everywhere and, where car parks had been cleared, the banks of shifted snow were over 6' high (and many yards long)

I remember Bren posting pics from the area a few years ago when they also got a load of snow - his parent lived round there IIRC

Report from Mrs S says it's been snowing in St Helens, but nothing's settled.

Looks like we might be in for more over night.  I'm on call tonight so may be a bit tricky getting to some sites, as Telecoms towers are usually in the highest points of an area things could be interesting

I'm not jealous at all

Crikey what I would give to have just an hour of that right now, I will then let this winter off for being a complete pile of pony

I'll just continue to look out my window at the rain, floods and rising river levels

Was up there last April.  Still have over 3 ft of snow on it.  Was impossible to walk on, lots of fun though as strangely it wasnt that cold.
