I can see snow on the fells around me here in Penrith. At a rough guess the snow seems to have fallen down to 150-160m.

Surprised this thread is so quiet.

Snow chances for the North and some Central/Southern areas over the next couple days - the best we have had all winter!

Apparently snow in central Worcester? So that's pretty low level in the midlands. Anyone else able to confirm?

Slight sleet/snow potential for some parts of the midlands overnight as a disturbance works its way W to E. Mentioned on BBC forecast earlier on.

Don't the forecasters have a problem with forecasting snow? (where it will snow, accumilations, etc)

Rubbish event here even this far north and modest altitude. Temperature was actually quite low during the precipitation about 0.5c but it was mostly sleet and wet snow that left a slushy covering on car roofs. Mind you I better not knock it as it could be the main snow event of the season! Andy

So your chance hasn't gone.

No snow in Manchester, no snow on the M6...turn onto the A500 to heard towards Stoke and it was coming down heavy. A good wet covering here, nice to see at last something white. Thought I was gonna go the whole winter without seeing a flake.

Let's see what this afternoon brings. I've got a meeting between Wigan & Bolton, at around 125m asl. I'll hopefully get to experience some snow, but I won't hold my breath.
