Lights flickering here - a very rare occurance these days.
The wind is very gusty, which suggests a strong convective input. There's certainly some incredible development taking place at the moment, with cells exploding as they move inland, and they are also long-lived and organised due to the strong wind shear.
I've seen rain rates of over 40mm/hr twice already this evening, albeit only for less than 10 minutes each time.
Had a peak gust of 60mph but it was so brief that I wonder if the true peak was actually recorded. Some of those gusts really are like getting a hard slap on the back. They sure do sound angry as I sit here with my window on the latch!
On the way back here (west Hants), the main road to Ringwood from Salisbury was entirely submerged in places due to groundwater flooding. Still passable, but only at a snails pace!
