This is what groundwater flooding does to country lanes - the Ems above Stoughton in the South Downs. Normally in winter the Ems rises about a mile further down the valley

Storm surge during the early hours of Saturday morning cause extensive flooding in Southsea - Sea Weed can be found right the way up to the common directly opposite the University and Holiday Inn Hotel. Using google earth i can say that park is over 200m from the nearest waters edge. The sea water made it roughly 410 meters from the nearest waters edge.

Almost 2 days later and the car park opposite the amusments is still flooded, also the ancient marsh land that is now southsea common has once again become a marsh  Im not sure if you can make out the swans swimming in the distance lol.

The whole field, even that which has been drained stinks of the ocean, apparently the council where out in force satuday morning pumping the water from the streets.

Flooding also at other places along the Southsea seafront including Canoe lake area again.

This lot is just the local field.. its prone to getting a little water logged but this winter its genuine marsh land rather then football fields. The migratory geese and seaguls have set up home.

This is all rain water
