2004? Forgettable here. End of Feb 2005? The last proper easterly here: two weeks of snowfall, albeit with above-zero temperatures pretty much throughout.

A great snowy spell here. We had 15cm, 9 days of lying snow and temps down to -10C Nothing more than what you would expect to get most winters here though you wouldn't think so given the dross we've been cursed with since 2007.

It would be great to get a repeat this year or of the Feb/March 2006 northerly which was outstanding. As for the February 2005 easterly, it was complete and utter rubbish and I'd rather have an early start to Spring. It's actually got colder this month than it did at any point in February 2005 which is really saying something.

Being on the E Anglian bump exposed to North Sea, we too had falls of snow between 25-27 Feb. The snow tended to melt during afternoons, with some of the showers being sleet and hail, but we did have proper snow at night, which did accumulate up to 5 cm.

The snow showers died out on Monday, replaced by a lovely sunny day.

Thanks Kevin - remember it well. Polar trough came across NI between 6-00 and 9-00am on the morning of the 26th and dumped 4 inches of snow quite widely at just the wrong time. Hard to believe thats 10 years ago next week.
Have to say - John Hammond hasnt changed much.
