Some stunning anvils about this morning, one beauty was so perfect but I was in taxi so couldn't get a picture. The top centre of the anvil had a huge dome protruding out - what is the name of this??

Even the small cumulus clouds are rocketing up with pace 😃 I think it could be an interesting day down here, shame I'm now heading to Newcastle.

Just tweeted @twoweather, some amazing Mama around here at the moment.
And strangely, some of our hefty showers not showing up on the radar ? We've had some torrential downpours but showing clear on radar

Had a decent pop-up with two strikes and hail at about 1pm today and another incoming just now.

Very springlike!

Next cell here. Gusty winds, small hail at the moment but not sferics - yet.
I've actually got half an eye on this cell as the signature on the southern flank moving across the south of Portsmouth now looks 'interesting'.

"Small but potent" sums up a couple of cells that went through here today. Some terrific hail shafts visible from a distance, and some good "it's gonna chuck it down in 30 seconds" opportunities as you could see the heavy stuff advancing in waves toward you.

Talking of decent hail, I am putting things in place for a chasing trip in 2015. Wanna take a ride?
