Oh, and this was taken just outside Wrexham on 03/04/13 - temp was several degrees above freezing and a lot of melting/compaction had taken place, but those piles were well over 100cm high. This area had had level snow over 30cm deep on the 23/03/13.

The 2012/13 winter was peculiar. I remember at the time thinking it was a bit of a let-down, and it's true we didn't have any prolonged cold spell (March was cold for March, but not a patch on Jan 10 or Dec 10 in absolute terms)

And yet, when I look back through photos, I can see four decent snowfalls - two in Jan; two in Mar. The snowfall on 25/01/13 was fantastic across parts of NW England, bringing total chaos. These were snaps from motorway CCTV's:

This was M62 J8, between Warrington & St Helens (only about 20m asl)

The M6 was closed from somewhere around J21a to J30. This next pic was between J27 and J28 (near Chorley/Leyland). Note the direction the lone car is facing

1) In Photobucket, click the pic you want. There'll be a short menu on the right of the page entitled "Links to share this photo". Choose the top option (email & IM) and the html address box with flash 'copied'.

2) back in the TWO reply section, click the button on the reply toolbar that looks like a double mountain with sun. Paste the html address in there. Click 'OK'

3) The image should be pasted into the reply. Add whatever text required

An amazing spell of weather this time last year, particulary the sustained easterly winds that caused so much drifting. Hardknott Pass didn't reopen until 15th April and only because the locals cleared it themselves.

Tomorrow 3rd April last year I had a memorable day on Helvellyn.

Fantastic photos! :)

I've only made it over there once! And never to such a beautiful part. Must try harder!
