I don't need WV imagery to tell me the plume is incoiming and the middle layers are destabilising as a haze envelops the area from the south.
WRF develops a few storms as early as 10pm across Dorset, these expanding into the early hours.

We are driving to Norfolk tomorrow, via the East Midlands, for a week`s holiday. I`m not looking forward to the journey after seeing the weather warnings.

having moved down to the south coast from the e mids this is my first summer living down here. Now i hope all those summer evenings of watching storms along the south coast on the RADAR convert into events I can actually see!

In the last 3 hours it has hazed over. A little more humid witha light breeze.

Looking like the core of the biggest thunderstorms will move through southern and then central areas on a NNE track between 0000-0600hrs (1st link), a weaker band of showery rain moves through SE England late morning clearing by early afternoon (2nd link).

Folkestone has an airshow tomorrow attracting over 200,000 visitors..the thought of miserable showery rain for the early part of the event is not a welcome prospect.

Tomorrow is concerning.
There are similarities with the very nasty flash flood event in June 2005 (Hawnby/Helmsley)
This year things are already rather waterlogged just now so 20mm or more in a couple of hours will cause sudden high levels in streams off the moors.
However we are somewhat on the eastern edge of it.

We're now on alert for tomorrow (mainly expected power outages), but also for possible flash flooding/lightning strikes etc - and guess who's holding the on-call phone....

Can anyone give me a quick update for  East Kent, mainly east of a line Medway through Maidstone, Hawkhurst, Camber please? Just trying to work our out chances of call out, and therefore how many crew I need on standby. Ta :)

GFS, WRF and Euro4 had storms in the Channel approaching the S Coast from 10pm.
It is now 11.35pm and no sign of anything yet.
