Rumbles for around an hour early this morning from a couple of cells that passed by close to the west. High-based activity with that characteristic echoey sound. The ATD radar picking up a lot of CG activity that has been tracking NNE from around the Ross-On-Wye area and now has reached the Wolverhampton area, as Sinky has just mentioned
Edit .. 10.44 BST CG's now showing around the Uttoxeter and Matlock areas.
Steady heavy rain here atm

However, what may conspire against it is a lot of cloud cover at all levels thus inhibiting surface heating and any storms moving in from the French coast will have to survive crossing what is still a cold Strait Of Dover.
So we'd probably end up with second hand elevated slop that had gone past it's sell by date by the time it all gets here. Still, the proof will be in the pudding by 4 pm to 9 pm today. At the moment it is feeling quite sticky and clammy and the sky has that glaggy soupy look about it all and I do have this "what do you want off me" type headache at the moment (whether that is storm related, I'm not sure - probably where I slept heavily last night despite the mugginess).
