A heavy downpour, very squally and some thunder and lightning here at the moment.

Cell developed directly overhead here from relatively clear skies as the trough moved in. From congestus to hail and lightning in about 30 minutes. Lovely discreet structure, has trundled off to the NNE now.

Nice storm with thunder and lightning over Liverpool earlier, some amazingly heavy rain at times too. It was intersting watching them drift over from the Wirral. During the past two or three days the heaviest cells on the coast all seem to skim right up the coast itself and haven't moved inland that far. Would have thought it'd be the opposite in Summer.

Looks the Widnes/St Helens have just been hammered, white echo's on radar. Impressive lightning and deep rolling thunder.

I think I caught a cloud to air lightning bolt coming out of the top of the anvil in the top right corner at around 32s to 33s.

and I have a video from the other side. It's 2 minutes off not very much, but I noticed a rainbow so took video in the hopes that I'd catch some lightning alongside. I didn't, but still worth a go.

Thanks for sharing, Duckie! I had a go at videoing the storm here but just got me and the camera wet!  Kev - I'm not sure if the flash is lightning or not - I've been looking frame by frame around that time and it's hard to tell. A cracking view of the cloudscape nontheless

Yet another storm here - though nothing compared to last night when I seriously thought the world had come to an end, the most enormous explosion, suddenly out of nowhere in the middle of the night. Scary stuff.

Perhaps some thundery interest for Friday evening for many?

Looking fine and increasingly warm from Sunday and so Friday could be the last thunder chance for a while.

Threat of some thundery activity in the showers that are due to spread south through today is perhaps a little more than I had thought a couple of days ago. Eastern areas of England from Yorks southwards could see some heavier showers with possible thundery elements from late afternoon through the evening.

Although the models has the thundery showers passing by to the west of Kent (most likely over Hampshire and Sussex) but this convective type set up is a devil to get right anyway (like for instance, last Monday the models had my location penned down for 20 mm of rain, but only 0.3 mm actually fell).
