It's a fair ban Liverpool fans can have no complaints. If he played for Man U they would be calling for a longer ban. They have to sell him now probably to Barcelona £80million I reckon.

Germany may not be playing through all their gears but they're going to come a cropper if they play like this against the likes of Chile or Colombia.

My say on Suarez's ban, if anyone cares (  ) is that he got off with a lenient one considering his previous form.  That said, the punishment on Liverpool is a tad unfair given the circumstances.  It does set an interesting debate on whether this has eroded his value and income for the club, for something not club related, and what does that mean in legality. Had the ban been any greater, I would imagine that Liverpool would have had a right to consider legal action against their own player.

As for his fine, it is pitiful as a % of his income.  I also agree he should be made to seek psychiatric help before returning to the field.

But on more exciting topics, the little winker is going home  Just need Uruguay out of the reckoning now.

Agree entirely. Saint was/is convinced he'll be at Liverpool next season.

You know, the more I think about this Suarez biting episode, the more it stinks.  Something just doesn't add up, and feels not right, like there's more to it. I can't quite put my finger on it, and maybe it is the brain's natural curiosity that is making me think there's some deeper conspiracy here.  Him saying what he did in the previous game, and then this happening, followed by a quite lenient ban that also affects his club team. Hmmmm.

I'm trying to map out the various scenarios about what happens to Suarez in terms of his career from here on. Something makes me feel someone or sopme people are gaining something out of this. I'd be interested in what an investigative journalist can dig up when drawing some lines between Suarez, his agent, Barcelona/Real Madrid, and Fifa (and maybe even the Far East).

Not convinced (as I've previously said) but thought it odds-on he'd be playing for us next season. He is one of only a handful of players in the entire world who will consistently win matches through sheer ability, by being able to score goals that only a few players could.

If he's not at Liverpool, we lose that. Impossible to accurately quantify it, but I reckon Suarez was worth 20+ points to us last season. I think Sanchez is a very good player. But he won't ever deliver what Suarez can. It's not just his goalscoring, it's the doubt he puts in defenders' minds, his off-the-ball movement. Only Messi, Ronaldo, maybe Aguero (lower workrate) and Ibrahimovic (getting on, lower workrate) have that ability. His playing style is just perfect for Liverpool.

After supporting Liverpool since the 70's, the past couple of decades have been tougher than tough. We've seen a few false starts - and false Messiahs like Fowler, MacManaman, Owen - only for those scummy arsewipes to our east steal our crown and mock us for it. But last season I was reminded how good football can be. If Suarez goes, it'll take a big chunk of joy out the game for me.

His ability helped to wipe out the handicap we have against the plastic, moneybags clubs. It was the only chance we had, when Citeh & Chavski just spend eye-watering amounts on even players who sit on their bench.

But perhaps it's time we let him go. Then try to rebuild again. Sigh.

Anyway, I've heard that the 'total ban on all footballing activities' breaches laws in relation to restraint of trade. It's one thing to ban a player from participating in matches - but not ban them from training, attending their place of work, etc.

FIFA have totally had a brainfart and acted well outside their remit.

Talk is you will get £80milion + for him. That's more than enough money to get 3 or 4 world class players the thing is dont waist it like Spurs did last year.

I think what's happened here makes a transfer more likely now.

Further to the posts above about Suarez's ban, I wonder what, if any, punishment Frank Rijkaard got from FIFA in 1990 after he TWICE spat in Rudi Voller's hair during the W Germany-Holland 2nd round game. I have a cousin who went to Italia '90 and was in the San Siro crowd that night, and he was totally appalled by Rijkaard's behaviour.

I should imagine that had Holland progressed, Rijkaard would have been handed a ban for the rest of that tournament.
